The Bobster
Corryvrekan Wildlife & Whale Tour
Unforgettable Day with Nature and a Fantastic Guide
What a day! Lydia was outstanding — full of passion, excitement, and genuine enthusiasm for everything we encountered.
From fascinating geology to an impressive knowledge of wildlife, she brought every moment to life. Her bird expertise in particular was next-level — she could identify each one instantly and shared loads of interesting facts.
During our 3-hour tour, we saw goats, red deer, fallow deer, shags, storm petrels, gannets, seagulls, grey seals, harbour porpoises, common dolphins, a golden eagle, white-tailed eagles, and even a lion’s mane jellyfish.
On the return leg, we paused to observe what looked like bottlenose dolphins — just distant splashes in truth, but a lovely moment that showed their focus was on the experience, not the clock.
It was thoughtful, immersive, and totally worth it. Highly recommend Seafari Easdale.

Wildlife & Whale Tour
Wow I had a fantastic time with Seafari yesterday. Got to their cute little office and got kitted up in my weatherproof gear and lifejacket. The crew lasses were really attentive and jokey.
It was a little misty that morning but good viz all the same.
Our skipper gave us a briefing and then we set off. I just love ribs from my diving days and they really take off and bounce over the water; very exciting!
Our tour guide was excellent. Really knew his stuff and told us lots about the slate mining history, the structures, the geology. I really liked the way we were encouraged to shout any sightings, at which our knowledgeable guide would immediately switch to a description!
We saw grey seals, the infamous stinky goats 🐐, red deer, fallow deer, the beautiful ‘flying barn door’ white tailed sea eagle AND its chicks! And even a Golden Eagle. …wow!
The cetaceans were in short supply that day unfortunately, but an earlier tour had sighted a basking shark and a large pod of dolphins!
Then on to the majestic Corryveckan, the third-largest whirlpool in the world! Our rib bounced on top of it as it writhed, up swelled, swirled, like a frenzied beast!
It was a lush trip. I’ve seen some tremendous stuff both above and below the water and that certainly ranks with the top of them!

Frequently Asked Questions.
How do I book a tour and is advance booking necessary?
Booking in advance is highly recommended, especially during peak season, due to limited spaces on our boats. You can typically book online through our website. For specific inquiries or bespoke charters, please contact us directly via phone or email.
What age restrictions apply to passengers, and what are the physical requirements?
We typically carry passengers from 4 years of age and upwards. All passengers must be able to hold on unaided and be fit and healthy. For safety reasons, we regret that our tours are not suitable for pregnant women or those with back or neck problems. If you have any other medical conditions or are unsure about your suitability, please contact us prior to booking to discuss your specific needs.
What equipment do you supply, and what should I wear?
We supply all necessary safety equipment, including life jackets on our RIB tours. To keep you comfortable on the water, we also provide waterproof jackets and trousers for all passengers.
We recommend dressing in warm layers, even on a sunny day, as it can feel significantly cooler out on the water. A hat, gloves, and sturdy non-slip footwear are also advisable. If you’re joining us on one of our catamaran tours, we’d suggest bringing a windproof jacket for added comfort.
What is your cancellation policy, especially due to weather?
Occasionally, trips may be cancelled due to unsuitable weather conditions. As your safety is our primary concern, should Seafari cancel a trip, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule. If you need to cancel, please note that a minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to avoid any cancellation charges.
Are there toilets on board the boats?
Toilet facilities are not available on our RIB boats, so we recommend using facilities before departure. If you’re joining us on one of our catamaran tours, toilet facilities are available on board.
How fast do the boats travel, and what measures are taken for passenger comfort and safety?
Our boats are capable of high speeds, but we always operate at a speed appropriate to the conditions and to ensure the comfort and safety of our passengers. We also slow down to observe wildlife. Our vessels are designed for stability in Scottish waters, and the skipper will head for sheltered areas in windy weather.
Is the trip suitable for individuals with reduced mobility, back or neck problems, or for pregnant individuals?
Due to the nature of boat tours and potential unpredictable wave motions, our trips may not be suitable for pregnant individuals or those with back or neck problems. While a degree of agility and balance is required, we are pleased to offer wheelchair access on our catamaran tours. Please contact us directly to discuss your individual requirements, and we’ll do our best to help.
Can I bring my dog on the tour?
Generally, our boat trips are not suitable for dogs. However, our office is happy to look after well-behaved dogs while you enjoy your trip, just contact us in advance to make the necessary arrangements.
What wildlife can I expect to see, and can sightings be guaranteed?
Our cruising area is rich in wildlife and common sightings often include seals, various seabirds, deer, porpoise and occasionally dolphins or whales. While we aim to maximise wildlife encounters, sightings cannot be guaranteed as the animals are entirely wild and free-roaming.
When is the best time of year to see specific wildlife, such as whales, dolphins or puffins?
Wildlife sightings vary throughout the year, and here’s a general guide to what you might expect each season:
Whales are most commonly seen travelling through our area from mid-May to early September. Dolphins and porpoise are year-round visitors, so there’s always a chance of a sighting whatever time you join us. Puffins can be seen in numbers on our day tour to Iona and Staffa, but only between May and July, so it’s worth planning ahead if these are on your wish list. Seals are a highlight throughout the season — common seal pups appear in June and July, while grey seal pups can be spotted in September.
For the best chance of seeing specific wildlife, we recommend contacting us directly, and we’ll be happy to advise on the ideal time to visit.
Where is the departure point, and how do I get there?
Our departure point is located at Easdale / Ellenabeich, Isle of Seil, which is connected to the mainland by the ‘Bridge Over the Atlantic’. You do not need to take a ferry to reach us. Detailed travel information, including directions and parking arrangements, can be found here.
Can I take a camera or other personal belongings on the tour?
Passengers are welcome to bring cameras and personal belongings aboard but do so entirely at their own risk. We recommend protecting cameras in suitable waterproof pouches as conditions on the water can be wet. Storage space may be limited so please bring only essential items.
