Frequently Asked Questions.
Will I definitely see the whirlpool?
Yes, you’ll visit the Gulf of Corryvreckan on every tour. However, the whirlpool’s activity varies with tidal flow. It’s most impressive during strong tidal currents. Our ticket office can advise on expected conditions for your chosen date.
Can you guarantee wildlife sightings?
We encounter wildlife on the vast majority of our tours, but we’re working with wild animals in their natural habitat, so we cannot guarantee specific species. Seals and seabirds are seen on almost every trip, while dolphins and whales are more variable.
What if the weather is bad?
We operate in most weather conditions. If we need to cancel for safety reasons, we’ll offer a full refund or reschedule. We provide full waterproof clothing for all passengers.
Is it suitable for young children?
Yes, children aged 5 and over are welcome. We have specially adapted seats for younger passengers. The tour is exciting but not too extreme for families.
Will I get wet?
You may get some spray, particularly in livelier conditions, which is part of the adventure! We provide waterproof clothing to keep you dry.
Can I bring my camera?
Absolutely! We recommend a waterproof case or bag. Action cameras like GoPro work particularly well.
Is there a toilet on board?
Our open RIBs don’t have toilet facilities. If using Celtic Adventurer, there is an onboard toilet.
What about seasickness?
The RIB’s speed and design minimise motion sickness for most people. If you’re prone to seasickness, consider taking medication 30 minutes before departure.
